TADA ~~~!!!!!!!

bought the DS-i instead of the new DS-LL...coz the DS-LL is really very LL !!! LARGE !!!!  dun wan such a big one and the price is the same as a Wii......wa liew..might as well buy a wii..... anyway mine is 2nd hand... and it's pretty new...the way Japanese take care of their things...power sia......... and it's relatively cheaper compared to a new one.... =)

photos from the setsubun  (bean throwing) i was talking about in my previous mail......

noticed how the floor i littered with squashed beans...hahahah...my kids are actually laughing at this while the kids in other classes are crying away.....wooohooo~~~!!!! my class rule!!!!!  too bad not convenient to show their true faces (or colours)...hiak hiak ~~

well...excuse me while i continue to play with my new friend......hehehe....

Setsubun time~~~~~

  • Jan. 30th, 2010 at 1:54 PM

Oh oh....let's see what I have to update so far in these 2 weeks.....
Kids went to see Oni's.... coz it's the time of the year where they will start throwing beans at the "Onis" ... Onis are like traditional monsters in Japan... They "come" at the beginning of the year in February and people starts throwing beans at them...that's call 'setsubun' ....there's even a song that the kids are singing in school or more like a chant... it goes " おにはそと、ふくはうち" ...which means "Monsters out, prosperity in" in direct translation.... =)

Here's a look at the "onis" that we bought the kids to see~~~ there's around 4 of them all around Gifu station, quite huge, around 2 storeys high~~

Kids made their own kites and did a little kite flying ~~~

Yesterday we had our annual cake party... the kids help to decorate cake.... this year our kids chose 'pachi-risu' ...it's a Japanese cartoon character...don't ask me which one....so many Japanese cartoons here... just when i tot we are filled with Digimon and Doraemon ....there's more here actually ~~

In all the confusion of trying to get the kids to calm and sit down instead of trying to kill each other while trying to take a look at the cake~~
I forgot to take a close up finished picture of our cake
it looks like i do have an upclose picture of our cake =p
 so~~~~ here's some side views

And here's all 12 cakes displayed out on stage~~~and of course our lunch menu for that day included....cake~~

Weather's still pretty cold.... under 10 all the time... but at least it's not snowing ~~  =)

Btw hope everyone likes my new blog look  ...hehee

ps: just in case you guys duno... you can see a bigger view of the pictures i posted by clicking it hor~~

NO NO NO !!!!!!!!

It's horrible...

It's terrible....

It's vegetable !!! ..................

~~~~
~~~~~

I weigh 50 KG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my weight has always been 45KG !!!! FOR 14 YEARS !!!!!

Today stood on the school's weighing machine and it shows 50.2KG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE HORROR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it...................... you are enjoying life and eating too much chocolate here.......

maybe it's the winter fats...you know... to keep me warm during the winter time.....

hope it will go away when the weather gets warmer........

time to start exercising and dieting ............

=(

Went to Nagoya dome on Saturday to get Arashi concert goods....

I went with my friend, reached the nearest train station to the dome at 3.30pm... saw a really really long line outside... IT WAS THE LINE TO BUY CONCERT GOODS ... and the most exaggerating thing was... the train station was a good 15mins walk away from the dome... OMG ~~!!!!!!

Because the concert was supposed to start at 6pm and yours truly didn't had any tickets... T___T
thought I shld start queuing when the concert start... since everyone would have gone inside the concert hall.... clever huh...hahahhahaha.....

Walked around at the nearest mall until almost 5.30pm... went back to the dome and the line had significantly shorter , at least the end of the line wasn't at the train station but outside the dome... phew ~~~~
But i still queued for a good 2 hours !!! from 5.30pm until 7pm....

Bought ~~~

Concert t-shirt (front)

Back

Bath towel ( Yeah ~~~~ now i have bath towel ~~~ )

Clear folder ( KAKKOI ~~!!!!  this is going permanently on my wallpaper)

The symbol is just so cute ~~  =)

To all of those who managed to watched the concert ~~~ U LUCKY PIGS ~~~!!!!!

Went back to school today to chat with the kitchen aunty.... she even more power...she queued for 6 hours !!!!!
She said she started at 11am and got the goods at 6.30pm !!!!
 WA LIEW !~~!!!!!!!
well, at least she got to watch their concert... hmmph~~~~~  ;P

Next year if I dun get the tickets.. i'm not going to queue.... too many ppl...the boys sure are popular this year.....

Work related. ....... the boss finally read thru all our submission for the play and my class is doing The Peach Boy ~~~ time to get started on costumes and back drop .... going to make a giant peach ~~~~ =)

School / work has started for almost 2 weeks but becoz of the 3 days weekend last week and the  heavy snow this week, most of the kids didn't show up becoz the bus was not operating ...  today was the day that I had all of my kids in class.... So today really feels like an official day for me.....
The weather in Gifu is really cold.... it has been snowing consecutively for 2 days since Wednesday and snowing and stopping the whole day today......

Here's a look at the nice scenary... it looks nice when it's snowing...but the horror starts after.... snow turns to ice.. my car skidded downhill....so scary...pulled my handbrake in time ....... or else... "BANG!!!"

 Our Anpan-man slide turned half white ~~

For my 3days weekend break, I went to Osaka to catch Kinki Kids concert J with my colleague.... couldnt get tickets to Arashi T_____T
so bo pian...accompany her to Kinki Kids.... Their concert is not as lively as Arashi because  they don't dance as much but vocal wise... they can really sing....and the concert talk was quite funny....

Tomorrow is Arashi's concert in Nagoya-dome.... SAD~~~~~ =(
and the worse part is~~~ a lot of ppl in school got the tickets..... this auntie who works in the kitchen got the ticket... my student's mum got tickets and he's going tomorrow ~~~
but the cute part is... a lot of my kids in class like Arashi too... it's recently like an Arashi talk during lunch time.. ha haa....very entertaining and fun ...

Anyway here are some pix from Osaka.... our lunch - Okonomiyaki and yakisoba....

My colleague trying very hard at UFO catcher ~~

The concert arena

Our last day - shopping at Dontoburi, there was this giant screen on the street and the camera will somehow add some funny drawings to anyone's face that's caught on camera...
Can you spot me ??

Sale Sale Sale ~~!!!

  • Jan. 2nd, 2010 at 11:28 PM

Today went new year shopping with a colleague in Nagoya...

In Japan, when it's new yr's, they have new yr sale and goodie bag for sale everywhere !!!
It's called fukubukuro, it sells for a fixed price and they have a lot of things inside, which you wouldnt know till you bought it. ... there's 5000yen, 10,000yen....mostly is for 10,000yen....
my colleague bought a 5,000yen one with 3 long sleeve shirt, 2 jackets, and a bag... very good... i didnt bought any coz most of the shops that offer the bag, the clothes are not my style... but i bought a gap sweater and a muffler... =)

Found an outback steakhouse in Nagoya area...went there for lunch.. SO HAPPY!!~~!!! reminds me of the one we have back home in millenia walk... =)

Had myself a alice spring chicken and the bloomin' onion ~~~

A fun shopping day.... compared to the horrendous snowy day yesterday ~~
I'm glad i went shopping with her today... =)

ps: i cut my hair btw ;P

Heavy snow is no joke~~

  • Jan. 1st, 2010 at 10:57 PM

What a enriching experience today....
It has been snowing heavily since new yr's eve....
was planning to go out just now on New yr's day....
Had to shovelled my car out of the snow....
after shovelling....couldnt start my car... battery was dead....
called JAF... technicial came ~~~ start up my battery....told me he couldnt change the battery for me coz his is wet from the snow....
traffic was kinda chaotic according to him coz of the heavy snow..  cars skidding..blah blah blah...
So told me I could only get my battery changed tomorrow...have to call again tomorrow...
started to drive out... began snowing like crazy...
No snow tyres ~~ half dead battery~~~ heavy snow... wow~~~ wat an experience...
Snow~~~ nice to play with...not fun to mess around with...

what's worse?? had to pay a lot for the servicing becoz they told me I don't have membership with JAF.. which we are all supposed to have.....i bloody hell rem paying money for it.... called up head teacher to ask about it...didnt pick up the phone...damn...where's help when u need it rite?
so the nice technicial told me it's better i enrol it personally now so that if i need to change my batt tmr or if anything else happens... it will be cheaper...damn...

u guys complain about terrible traffic back home...wait till u come here man..
driving in Sg is nothing ~~ driving with mother nature against u ..
tat's call real driving...

i'm just glad i arrived at my destination safe n sound... have to wait till the snow stops b4 i can head out again....i'm not driving out there again man... has been snowing for 2 consecutive days....when is the snow bloody hell gonna stop...
wat a bad way to start 2010 ~~~ bleahzz~~

YooHOO!!!~~~~!!! LET iT sNOW ~~!!!

  • Dec. 19th, 2009 at 9:21 AM

Arachic is back~~~ MIA so long izzit... ha hahaha.... Woke up this morning...looked out the window....snowing !!! 4 inches of snow covering everywhere...very very pretty.... if only the snow delayed a week..then we will have a white xmas !!~~~!!!!

My laundry line all covered~~~

My yard~~~

My little blackie~~~ shit man.... how to go out later like that...no snow tyres....

Even as I am typing this entry....it 's a snow storm outside... but the snow will stop in the afternoon and it's sunny days again for the next weeks...maybe for the whole of winter anyway....

Anyway...... eversince the prep for halloween started....

it's the prep for the autumn festival which we made the giant turtle n nemo float.... in which the kids have to wear headband and carry it around the neighbourhood and shout : "WA SHOI WA SHOI !!"  hahaha... very cute...

and then it's rehearsal and practices for the winter concert....

As mentioned in my previous post... my class sang "jingle bell rocks" ... 21 little monster adds up to a lot of little angels too... so cute =) So basically that was my Oct-Nov -Dec....

busy busy busy~~~
Because of privacy issues I can't show the face of the kids on internet...sorry....

I will show u guys the video when I'm back home....

Speaking of which... if you guys are asking when I'm returning home to sunny singapore...... the news is not till next year's August... 2010 August...
anyway there's not a lot of days left of 2009.... I wanted to come back in March during the spring break... i was even on the verge of booking air tickets already when the boss announced the company trip's location..

HAWAII~~!!!!

actually there's a choice of Korea or Hawaii... even a joke about North or South Korea...

anyway.... the majority chose Hawaii so I guess 100% it's Hawaii...SO I'M GOING HAWAII IN MARCH !!!!!~~!!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!~~~!!!!

so....sorry...i missed u guys back home but to skip a chance at going hawaii for free ( not exactly free..just 300SGD extra to pay ..the rest is company bore )

u have to be crazy right.....hiak hiak~~~ so you guys wouldnt be see-ing the blackie for 8 more months.. =(

but by then dylan will be 2 years old !!!!! yeah~~~!!! cant wait ~~!!!!

Anyway was talking about school...so the school will be closed for the winter break on christmas day....yes!! i'm still working on xmas day... more of cleaning actually...coz the japanese take year end cleaning very seriously...just like chinese new yr...to welcome the new yr with a clean school....

Wenjie's coming here after xmas with his gf....  and then i will need to take my driving test to convert my singapore license to japanese license before my international license expires in March...

So basically that's the whole of my winter break...

and once the winter break starts....the last term of school starts too...and it's mad practise again for the stage play that each class will put up for the end of the yr.... the kids will all be in the play, teacher's participation optional...i'm not gonna be in it...coz i'm shy....hiak hiak....but the 2 plays I have in mind are 'Romeo n Juliet' and 'The Peach Boy', one is ang moh play, one is japanese play.... not sure which will get picked by the boss though...... but will keep u guys updated.....

and then graduation and a new school year....time flies isn't it...

Looking back on 2009 , it has been a really fruitful year for me i guess.... i'm enjoying my job...i finally feel like i'm more like an adult....i have a decent job, earning money and sending money home....... i feel more in charge of myself, more responsibility because of the job scope ,  I feel more creative definitely... coz I need to think and work more on projects in school.......

the downside is being away from home........i miss my friends n family...

I'm not sure how long I can remain as a kindergarten teacher because it doesn't seem like an option back home for me issit ?? it's an option here though....

But next year i will start on my translation course or a more advanced japanese course so i can have an option if i'm going back home permanently in the future...but in the next few years... i might still be here in Japan... looking after kids.....

ps: a whole pile of snow just came crashing outside from the roof top....sounded just like thunder....kinda scary...i thought it was earthquake ( or earth QUACK as my japanese teacher's prounciation... ha hahahaa..... made me laughed so hard when she said that )  okie.....till then....

MERRY XMAS EVERYONE BACK HOME ~~!!!

i will keep warm here and prevent myself from freezing to death...it's 1 degress outside today....

Everyone at home...stay cool n dry ...hahahaa

   みんな大好き~~~!!!! LOVE U ALL ~~!!!

Happy Wedding & Happy Halloween ~~

  • Oct. 31st, 2009 at 11:28 PM

Yesterday was Elvin's wedding.... Called both Cindy and Xin but both didn't pick up the phone...
didn't want to call the bridegroom cause he should be very busy ~~~~ Anyway ...just wanted to say ...

CONGRATULATIONS DEAR ELVIN ON YOUR WEDDING ~~~
Sorry I couldn't make it.... but you have my blessing...now that you are a married man with 'jia shi' ...hahahaha....
be good and faithful to your wife...enjoy married life and miss being single...ha ha haha.... Catch up with you when I am back in Singapore....
Take care ~~~ Miss you all~~~

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway... wow...what a week it has been.... Halloween week, Thursday we had haunted house day in school where the kids took turns to enter the haunted house set up by the teachers in the 5 years old level..... and Friday supposed to be Halloween celebration where we have games  booths and costume parade..... Spent the whole of last 2 weeks preparing for the Halloween party and parade however, due to the outbreak of the influenza in one of the classes in school...the boss decided to shut down the school for a week.... So we had a break from Friday to next Wed ..... and the Halloween party will take place next Fri instead.... however, teachers are still required to go back to school during tat time...................

So we only had the chance to go through the haunted house on Thurs.... ha hahaa.... my boys in class are wuss.... so many of them cried after going through the haunted house... the girls in my class are so brave...so proud of them....very gungho... wanted to go in again somemore.... hahahhaa.....

____________________________________

A lot of bad news with some of my colleague...one of them had kidney stones...so he has been resting for  a week, at first we thought he had influenza cause the day that he stop coming coincide with the influenza spread......but whatever it is...both sounds awful.... hope he recover soon... he's coming back to school next week....

then had another colleague, heard his license got suspended for 2 years because he was caught drunk driving...... poor thing... I can't stand not driving here for  2 days... funny thing is... he lives very near a lot of other colleagues... but he still choose to ride his bicycle to and fro work.... when the weather turning so cold somemore...
guys really find it very hard to ask for help izzit ??? pride very hard to put down hor....

---------------------------------------------------------------

Next week onwards, we have to start preparing for the autumn festival...every class will be making a float...  Our class will be making the turtle from Nemo... coz my class is green class ..so i thought of it...hehehe...will take picture of the finished product and show everyone...  =)
Gonna be super super busy... halloween party next friday not even over yet and have to start preparing for the autumn festival....
then dec having the christmas concert somemore....
oh....btw from my previous post i mentioned about choosing a song for my class... i decided on Jingle bell rock.. ha haa...coz it's quite a upbeat song...very suitable for my class...so full of energy... it's still waiting to be approved by the 'singing teacher'
...but i think 95 % should be okay....

Christmas Song

  • Oct. 19th, 2009 at 8:18 PM

December December~~~~
December is the musical concert again.......... hai~~~~~
why again??? coz we had once in july.... the kids in my class sang You're my sunshine... it was quite a cute song and they sang it very very well...
so for December we're supposed to have like a mini christmas concert again.... so must choose English songs again...
I chose Santa Claus is coming to town...but was rejected because it's a song for the 3 years old... They say too easy for my level of kids.....arghhhh~~!!!!!
CHOOSE WHAT ~~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tennis here i come ~~

  • Oct. 14th, 2009 at 10:06 PM

And that's a wrap~~~

  • Oct. 5th, 2009 at 8:38 PM

Yeah...my first  big event with the school - Sports Day ended yesterday...
I was so excited over it i couldnt sleep the previous night..hhahaa...woke up at 3am and couldnt sleep a wink anymore.....

I must say it was quite a big success... my class's team got 1st place for both team A and B.... I'm quite surprised... although i know that my class is fast....but during the practises both teams never get 1st place for both teams.... ... both teams getting 1st place is really a first...and on the actual day itself... hahaha..i must say they did a really good job...
And because it was a working day yesterday on sunday ...so today monday is an off day..i went shopping and bought rewards for the kids... hershey's kisses...hahahaha....

It has been a really crazy week , with the influenza and the bad weather threatening to cancel the sports day..
It was actually supposed to take place on saturday...but because it was raining the whole week until sat morning... the boss decided to postpone it to sunday....
And the weather was just blazing hot on sunday ......compared to the freezing weather during the rainy week... T___T

Besides my kids doing such a wonderful job at the relay.... none of them cried or fell during the entire class... looking at the other classes same level as mine... my kids are really quite matured for their age..hahaha.... except the mischievous side still there la...hahaha...but kids are kids la.... wat to do... hahaha....

The morning part of the sports day was the relay and dancing part for the kindergarten...so it was more serious... we marched in with the kids, had dance exercise and sang the sports day song.....

The afternoon part was more relaxing and fun activities like wheel barrow race, hat grabbing game, tug of war, big pants race, mystery card game , teachers and parents relay... our level got 2nd for girls and 1st for guys..haha... i was the anchor person for the race...lucky never run last...or else so malu...hahaha....

The afternoon was so much fun but tat was also when the tired-ness sets in.... especially after the tug of war, my tension just dropped dramastically.... well...because i was just suddenly pulled in to make up the numbers... wa liew... the bloody thick rope... 2 of my fingers skin was tore off...and i got 2 big bruises from the ropes..hahahhaa....my battle scar i told my colleague...

i must say, the way japan hold sports day is so different from singapore...they take it so seriously.....have u ever heard of any kindegartens in singapore with sports day ???
and they have so many other fun activities .......

After everything, we cleaned up the place, went home took shower and went for a thank u dinner ( yakiniku ) .... =)
After tat went karaoke with my colleagues... went home at 2am ... woke up at 7am today...
now super lack of sleep but just can't sleep... serious insomia ...hahahaha

next event up, halloween....can't wait =)

i love this job !!!!

the only thing i regret these few days....never take photo ~~~ ARGHHHH!!!!

Dear Diary~~~

  • Sep. 26th, 2009 at 11:54 PM

Recently keep having this thought...maybe i should buy a book and use it for my diary... so i can record down every single thing that happens everyday....
the thing is... i've had this online journal for 4 years... but i can never sign in everyday online to type.......so why would i have the time or patience to write by hand everyday ???
maybe having a physical diary will remind me to write everyday ???
coz it can get really troublesome to log in and start typing...

hmmm...i'll see how things go...

Happy Happy shopping day~~~

  • Sep. 20th, 2009 at 9:38 AM

The start of the silver week...had 5 consecutive days of break...
hiak hiak hiak...heard form my colleagues that it only occurs once every 6 years....
OoO

So...decided to go on a road trip and drive to Toki Outlet in Gifu for some shopping coz I saw there's a huge sale outlet wide during the holidays~~~
The drive will roughly take around an hour plus a bit...hehehee

So... waiting for my friend to finish work yesterday at around 3pm , then key in the navigation the destination and off we go...

BUT ~~~ the funny thing about this navi that I have is ~~~~~ so far, it has always bring me to either (1) the wrong way or (2) expensive way, which is the toll way....

so... as usual the navi this time didn't let me down..this is wat happened...

Scenario to~~~

Me : Keying into the navi the destination

Navi: 有料道路利用してよろしいですか? する? しない ?
Translates to : Would you like to go by the way using toll gate ( expressway)

Me : haha... think I stupid izzit.. need to pay... しない
Translates to : NO ( selected )

~~~ happily started driving ~~~
after around 10 minutes later....
Navi : 三百メトル先、 右方々で 有料道路入り口です。
Translates to : Please turn right 300meters ahead into the toll gate.
Me: WAT THE FUC* !!!!! I KNEW IT !!!
Sian~~~ at this point.. can't do anything, cant u-turn or anything...so paid 1400Yen to enter into the expressway....
usually it takes around the same time to use the normal road..but using the toll service... it's lesser traffic and no traffic lights at all....
Anyway, at least this time it didn't bring me to Nagoya when I keyed in Gifu... like when my sis was here....
______________________________________
Ok... back to the shopping talk...hehehe ...reached the outlet... and started to shop , shop n shop... the aim of going was actually to get more warm clothes to prepare for winter ...weather turning cold~~ T____T
First shop I went into was of course adidas...hehehhe...
I bought 2 sports shoes, one for me and one for my younger sis, it's super cheap...only 3000plus yen a pair...
coz it was out season design and there's an additional 10% off on each items....
 For my sis~~
 mine~~
Got a set of sports jacket and pants for me to prepare for winter.
Then got off to swatch to get my watch strap repaired... 1000Yen and got a swatch watch to for 6000Yen only coz there's a 30% off for the second pair...my friend bought a pair...
So dirt cheap rite !!!
Mine's the blue one~~
And then went to Gap, clothes in Gap japan relatively cheaper than those in Singapore.. I bought 3 long sleeve shirts and each only cost 1400yen...
and two tops...
Found a really nice leather jacket..only 3990Yen......
Overall damage was not as bad as that in Yokohama...hahahha... but i got a new winter wardrobe
_____________________________________
We reached there around 4plus going 5 and shopped all the way till the shop closes at 9pm....
It's on top of a hill so it was relatively cold at night... but it's a really nice place to have an outlet...
Next time will go again.. an hours drive fair enough... just need to figure out how to go there without paying toll ~~~ T___T
Anyway.. the journey back.. the same episode but this time with a new twist.....
Scenario Back~~~
Me : Keying into the navi my home address
Navi: 有料道路利用してよろしいですか? する? しない ?
Translates to : Would you like to go by the way using toll gate ( expressway)
Me : hai~~~~ like it matters....  anyway.. No selected
~~~ started driving ~~~

after around 10 minutes later....

Navi : 三百メトル先、 右方々で 有料道路入り口です。
Translates to : Please turn right 300meters ahead into the toll gate.

Me: Wow~~~ i am so surprised...

My friend : Why don't you just drive straight and not go into through the toll gate???

**Because on the journey back, there's another lane duno going where next to the toll gate entrance**

Me: hmmm..good idea.. I'll just not go through the toll gate and the navi will have to choose another route...hiak hiak....

** So happily drove to the other lane not entering into the expressway**

** So for about 15mins we were driving on normal roads and not using the expressway when suddenly**

Navi: 三百メトル先、 右方々で 有料道路入り口です。
Translates to : Please turn right 300meters ahead into the toll gate.

Me: WA LAO ~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My toll fee back was 1300Yen, 100yen cheaper than the journey there because we got onto the expressway at the later entrance...

Silver Week

  • Sep. 18th, 2009 at 8:34 PM

Today marks the start of a 5 day break~~~ call the silver week...

Yippee~~~ with the sports day coming up..it's endless outdoor practise from marching to dancing to running all day long...
sometimes it makes me wonder : am I working in a kindergarten or primary school??
sometimes the way they are training the kids...makes me wonder if they are trying to train super kids...
Oh well.. but it is an international kindergarten and the parents are paying a lot more school fees than normal kindergarten...
after the sports day finishes in October..it's busy busy busy again in preparation for Halloween.....

But not complaining though..work here is really really fun... sometimes i just wish I could post more pictures and videos of the fun we have in school but because the privacy laws here in Japan are quite strict....

oh well...will keep all the fun to myself.. =)
